I admire your work Stephen. Although I've spent most of my life in the study of the retinal vasculature, I've become increasingly interested in the retinal neuropile and especially in photoreceptor cells. I 'm particularly interested in the unique chromatin organisation and transcriptional apparatus of the photoreceptors in the rat and mouse retina where I think the apparent hyper-heterochromatic condensation represents a situational-functional adaptation, rather than one determined by differentiation-related gene silencing. I'd appreciate the perspective of someone with a serious background in the biology of photoreceptors.
