My current research interests overlap the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Molecular Biology, focusing on pattern discovery in massive biological data. In particular, I am interested in developing computational techniques for the analysis of large-scale cancer genomics data, protein structures and interaction networks, which offer insights to fundamental problems in medicine, drug discovery and systems biology, such as enzyme-substrate relationship discovery, protein-protein interaction prediction, protein structure modeling, alignment and classification.
I am comfortable teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in a plethora of Computer Science areas, including Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing. At the undergraduate level, I am interested in teaching Introduction to Bioinformatics, Biological Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence in Biology, Large-Scale Data Mining, Applied Machine Leaning. At the graduate level, I would be excited to teach Advanced Bioinformatics Algorithms, Computational and Systems Biology, Pattern Recognition in Massive Biological Data, Big Data Visualization, Swarm Intelligence and Bio-inspired Computing.
